Ludi Cereales

Ver. V, 14, 36] e, durante il loro svolgimento, i plebei erano soliti scambiarsi inviti a pranzo, così come facevano i patrizi durante i Ludi Megalenses [Gell. XVIII, 2, 11].

Comprendevano ludi circenses [Ov. Fast. IV, 709 – 12; Tac. Ann. XV, 53, 1; 74, 1] e ludi scoenici [Liv. XXX, 39, 8; Cyp. Spect. IV, 4]

Fast. IV, 407 – 14]

Ludi Cereales

The first evidence of these Ludi is Livius and refers to 202 BCE [Liv. XXX, 29], but a coin belonging to Memmius, edilis, would seem to attest them already in 211 BCE. They were organized by the aediles plebeii [Cic. Ver. V, 14, 36] and, during them, plebeians were used to exchange invitations to dinner, as did the patricians during the Ludi Megalenses [Gell. XVIII, 2, 11].

They included ludi circenses [Ov. Fast. IV, 709-12; Tac. Ann. XV, 53, 1; 74, 1] and ludi scoenici [Liv. XXX, 39, 8; Cyp. Spect. IV, 4]

People wore white robes and mournful clothes were not allowed [Ov. Fast. IV, 619-20]. The Goddess not received bloody sacrifices, (excluding sows victima propria for Cereris), but: incense, spelled, or mola salsa, resinous torches (taeda), on domestic hearths [Ov. Fast. IV, 407-14]
